Christian Widow

No Home | No Water

ETCC interviewed a Christian widow and her two daughters recently. This Christian family has been completely left in destitute after the death of her husband. Her husband was killed by a group of fundamentalists on a trivial issue.

Their house is in pathetic condition, without a proper bathroom and a roof above their head. The ground floor of the house is made out of mud, often gets washed away by rain. The widow has no source of income as she can’t walk herself. The daughters couldn’t carry on their studies due to extreme poverty. They do menial jobs such as cleaning houses to buy food and other essential things for survival. They neither have electricity nor natural gas to cook food.

Moreover, the widow, Zehda, is a patient herself as she can’t walk because of her swollen knees, joints disease. She has been trying to get both her daughters married, but it seems to be impossible to collect enough money for their marriage.
